Bisa! Can!
Bisa! is a unique collaboration between friends across cultures and genres spanning across two islands, ancient wisdom & modern styles.
‘Bisa’ is an Indonesian word that translates to “can” or “can do”. It communicates the band’s aspirations to explore new things and believe in potential!
Bisa! brings together Ngarrindjeri (people of the Coorong and lower lakes) and Australian First Nations language, symbols and practices, with Balinese people, Balinese traditional music and western musical styles including progressive rock/metal and electronica.
The Bisa! story
After the outcome of the 2023 Australian Indigenous Voice referendum in Australia, where there was a majority “no” vote, Dana wanted to find different ways to explore the issues of politics and culture in creative ways.
This intersected with Neil and Dana’s long-term connection with Bali and particularly Ubud where they have spent many years with friends and community, including with the local NGOs governed by people with disabilities.
Dana and Neil love the Ubud music scene, and it's through this they met I Gede Angga Partha Dinata, a guitarist, singer, composer & sound engineer. This collaboration has grown to include friends across Bali.
